Your Very First Burn

Our candles burn differently than most candles. Follow these instruction for optimal burning and scent throw.

  • When you receive your candle do not trim the wicks. They are already trimmed to optimum first burn.

  • Dedicate time to your very first burn. Each scent is different but you will have to dedicate approximately several hours for your very first burn or until the top surface of your wax is liquified. A tiny amount around the edges is fine. This will form a memory and set your candle up for success for future burns of your candle. To preserve fragrance, on your first burn, stop burning when the melt pool reaches the edges of the container.

  • Do not trim your wicks in between burns. Our candles have self trimming wicks. When burned properly, the wicks will trim themselves to the perfect height for optimal burning. If you burn your candle well beyond the recommended burn time, you may need a slight trim but be careful not to trim your wicks too short as the flames will be too small and drown in the wax. In a majority of the cases you will not need to trim the wicks.

  • To preserve fragrance, do not burn your candle more than 4 hours at a time after your first burn.

  • Burn on a level surface or your burn won’t be even and one wick may continually drown out.

  • Re-center wicks if the wicks are leaning over whenever needed and when extinguished for consistent consumption of wax.

  • Burn in a well-ventilated room.

  • You may see a little wax clinging to the sides on additional burns, even if you melted the full top surface during your first light. This is normal and is the nature of our slow burning candles and should correct itself as the candle burns further down.

  • Avoid burning near heavily drafted areas and vents. Although all candles need some air movement for optimum scent throw, overly drafted areas will cause your candle wax to burn faster and shorten the life of your candle.

  • Always burn all 3 wicks at the same time. Doing otherwise will cause an uneven burn and tunneling.

  • All candles need air flow/movement for optimum scent throw. If you notice some days your candle throws a stronger scent then other days, chances are on those days you had heat or air conditioning kicking in and causing air flow/movement.

Additional information for safe and optimal burning.

  • Never leave a candle unattended.

  • Keep away from children and pets.

  • Keep candle free from foreign objects and trimmings.

  • Only burn your candle on a level, fire/heat resistant surface.

  • Keep away from drafts and flammable objects.

  • Stop using when 1/2 inch of wax remains.

  • Do not blow out candles as hot debris may fly. We recommend to extinguish by bending the wick briefly into the melting wax using a heat/firesafe object. Reposition wicks after extinguishing. The flame and wick should not touch the container.

  • Do not use the lid to extinguish the candle.
